Privacy Policy
DEFAULT VALUE LLC operates Stencil Specs for Shopify. This policy explains the information the app processes to provide product specification tables to merchants.
Information we process
When a merchant installs Stencil Specs, we store the Shopify shop domain, application-encrypted Shopify access and refresh credentials, plan and installation state, specifications, translations, setup milestones, catalog health snapshots, and scheduled-check status. A whole-catalog CSV import stores an application-encrypted rollback journal containing the affected metafield's imported and previous values so the merchant can undo that operation safely. Shopify sessions may include the authorized staff member's name, email, locale, and account-role metadata. The app reads product attributes, collections, and product or variant metafields that the merchant selects for specification tables. Specification values remain in the merchant's Shopify store.
Stencil Specs does not request or store customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, orders, payment information, or customer profiles.
How information is used
We use this information only to authenticate the merchant, operate and secure the app, publish the merchant's storefront configuration, show setup and health information, provide support, and diagnose errors. We do not sell merchant or customer information or use it for advertising.
Service providers and security
Shopify, Railway (hosting), our managed database provider, PostHog (product analytics), and Sentry (error and operations monitoring) process limited information on our behalf under their service terms. We use encrypted transport, restrict production access, and encrypt stored Shopify access and refresh credentials with authenticated encryption.
Retention and deletion
We retain merchant configuration while the app is installed and as needed for security, support, and legal obligations. On uninstall or a verified shop-redaction request, the app removes the shop's sessions, scheduled-check state, and owned application data. Shopify-hosted product metafields remain under the merchant's control. Limited security, support, and diagnostic records held by service providers follow their configured retention and applicable legal requirements.
